EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING: ASSESSMENT THROUGH RUBRIC FOR SCHOOL-GOING CHILDREN

ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Traditionally schools have focused on development of cognitive and academic skills in children to enhance their academic performance. However, recent research indicates only 20% of an individual’s success is attributed to IQ, the rest 80% is contributed by socio-emotional skills and wellbeing of an individual. In line with the contemporary research in the field of education and wellbeing, this project aims to provide a tool to promote the socio-emotional skills of students for enhanced emotional wellbeing and long-term success in life. An Emotional Wellbeing Rubric presented in this booklet provides a descriptive rather than an evaluative approach to understand the socio-emotional skills that are well developed in a student and those that need support to flourish. In addition to the rubric, this project also goes a step further and puts forth examples of strategies that can be employed to enhance specific socio-emotional skills of students. A practical implementation strategy for teachers to use the Emotional Wellbeing Rubric in class is also being provided.
